As everyone who experiences them must, I found the Badlands in South Dakota to possess a majesty and a beauty not to be found anywhere else. The soft muted colors are such a surprise to the eye, as are the jagged prominences that stand defiant against the powers of erosion. Watch out for the prairie dogs, though...they carry plague!
