After a summer of extreme drought in the Sierra, it was comforting to know that there was some place in the world that still has snow and flowing rivers. I had to do a lot of warping and perspective blending to get this angle, but at least the moon is from the scene and not google images. It's not perfect, and I wish I had a tack sharp exposure for the grass behind the flowers, but I'm still happy with the rest of the image so I thought I'd share. Dark Energy by alexnoriega

This is one of a few images I'm pretty stoked about from backpacking around the Northwest this summer: Mount Rainier during a stormy sunset, rising high above passing thunderheads. I shot this with my girlfriend Erin last month. For educational purposes and in the interest of full disclosure, here are the exposures that were needed: one for the sky, one for the land, and two for the lightning strikes (which were necessary as separate exposures at f/4, because the strikes weren't showing up in my base f/16 exposures with all the other light in the scene).
