12 Fashion-People Spots To Hit In London

Ring the alarm: London Fashion Week has begun. For the next five days, the city lives and breathes all things Fashion (yes, that's spelled with a capital F).

Rest assured you’ll be the first to know about the shows and parties that put our fair metropolis on the sartorial map. And, we’ll be bringing you along during our downtime, too — because even editors need a little relaxation and recuperation. So, slip on your highest heels (taking care to stow some flats in your tote) and take a tour of the fabulous places and spaces we’ll be calling our own between shows.

The Shop at Somerset House

However busy our schedule, there's always room for a little shopping — especially if it's only a quick trot across the cobbles of Somerset House. And, that is exactly where the British Fashion Council's pop-up shop is. Expect a tight edit of clothing and accessories from the hottest designers of the moment.

The Shop, Somerset House, The Strand, London, WC2R 1CA.

Balthazar

We're still getting used to Balthazar, one of our favorite New York restos, establishing itself this side of the pond. We can't believe our luck; its British outpost is only a brisk, five-minute walk away from Somerset House. That means one can easily scarf down a delicious pastry or sandwich from the restaurant's brasserie in between shows.

Bleach Bar

Alex Brownsell's iconic East London hair salon, Bleach, now has a little sister in the form of Bleach Bar. It's a pop-up joint that's open every Thursday to Saturday, 6 p.m. to 2 a.m., and judging by the neon-strewn decor, its tongue is very firmly set in its cheek.

Bleach Bar, 428 Kingsland Rd, London E8 4AA.

Dover Street Market

Dover Street Market celebrates its 10th birthday this year, but this avant-garde fashion business isn't resting on its laurels anytime soon. With a major Louis Vuitton concession opening on the first floor — and the launch of Pharrell Williams' scent for Commes Des Garcons in-store — we can't think of a better excuse to do a little shopping product research between shows.

Dover Street Market, 17-18 Dover St, London W1S 4LT.

Shake Shack

Shake Shack's veggie Shroom Burger is the fuel we need to get us through another afternoon of back-to-back appointments. We don't even mind the block-long queues.

Shake Shack, 24, Market Building, The Piazza, Covent Garden, London, WC2E 8RD.

Cowshed Spa

Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Carnaby Street is the Cowshed Spa. This chain is part of the Soho House group, and it shows in the interiors — think mood lighting and the world's most comfortable sofas. Stepping through the doors of the salon, one breathes a sigh of relief as the stresses of the fashion calendar fade away. Plus, there is free Wi-Fi, so you can still catch up on emails with relative ease.

Roksanda

The Roksanda show is one of the hottest tickets at London Fashion Week. This time round, we'll have to hide our bank cards and try not to snap up the current season's collection at the designer's first stand-alone store.

Roksanda, 9 Mount Street, London, W1K 3NG.

Meat Market

Midway through Fashion Week, when the constant thrum of shows and parties begins to take its toll, we slip away for a malt shake and chili cheese fries at Meat Market, the Covent Garden sister branch of Meat Liquor. It's not big, and it's not clever, but boy does it make us feel good.

Meat Market, The Deck, Jubilee Market Hall, London, WC2E 8BE.

Punch Room at the London Edition Hotel

Parties are a big part of the week, and the best ones always seem to occur in the Punch Room at the London Edition hotel. This intimate, oak-paneled fixture serves up delicious cocktails and excellent finger food. Plus, the eye-candy is never too shabby, either.

Punch Room, London Edition Hotel, 10 Berners Street, London, W1T 3NP.

Mishkin's

We like to toast the end of the day with a potent cocktail (preferably gin-based) and a Reuben sandwich. And, lucky for us, we can do just that at Mishkin's, the non-kosher resto serving up some of the best Jewish comfort food in the city.

Mishkin's, 25 Catherine Street, London, WC2B 5JS.

Wolf & Badger

Wolf & Badger always inspires and delights us with its eclectic edit of emerging and independent fashion labels. Plus, the fashion boutique has just announced a partnership with juice company Raw Press, which created a juice bar in the shop's basement. Even more incentive to visit.

Wolf & Badger, 32 Dover Street, London, W1S 4NE.

Fernandez & Wells

Strong coffee and lots of it is what gets us through fashion week — and we’re always pleased to pick up a flat white at Fernandez & Wells, a coffee shop and deli all rolled into one. It's just opened a branch in Somerset House, making it our new favorite place for a bit of a pick-me-up.

Fernandez & Wells, Somerset House, The Strand, London, WC2R 1LA.
